Product Details

The CenturyLink Common Channel Signaling/Signaling System 7 (CCS/SS7) Interconnection Service allows interconnecting service providers to use the CenturyLink CCS/SS7 network to establish transmission paths for telephone calls and obtain information from remote databases (LIDB, CNAM and Toll Free Code). It is also used to transmit information necessary to provide Custom Local Area Signaling Services (CLASS) such as automatic callback.

The service is available to all service providers (IXC, CLEC, CMRS, ILEC, and CCS/SS7 Service Providers) where CenturyLink has Signal Transfer Points (STPs). STPs are located in Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Tennessee, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Texas and Missouri.

CenturyLink transmits out-of-band signaling information between its CCS/SS7 network and the CCS/SS7 networks of other service providers. CCS/SS7 networks are separate from, but interconnected with, telecommunications networks used to carry voice and data communications between end-user customers. CCS/SS7 networks have two basic components:

  1. Signaling links - The digital circuits (usually 56 Kbps) used to transport messages between signaling points.
  2. Signaling points - Nodes in the CCS/SS7 network that originate, terminate and route signaling messages, or perform a combination of these functions.

Business Applications
