Product Details
CenturyLink Toll-Free Code Database service provides a single database source for routing information and additional vertical features (e.g. time of day routing by location, by service provider and routing to multiple geographic locations) for toll-free number services.
This is what happens when someone calls a toll-free (800, 888, 877) number:
The tandem, or end office, receives the 800 call and launches a query to CenturyLink Toll-Free Code Database via the CCS/SS7 network. The Toll-Free Code Database identifies the appropriate Interexchange Carrier (IXC) or service provider for the call, and any other routing information. The query response is returned over the CCS/SS7 network to the tandem or end office that originated the query. The switch then routes the call based on the information received.
The CenturyLink Toll-Free Code Database receives and responds to queries using the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) standard CCS/SS7 signaling protocols. The records stored in CenturyLink database are downloaded from the nationally administered Service Management System (SMS/800).
CenturyLink national database contains toll-free code information for the United States and Canada.
